Sierra Service Project is now accepting applications for these SSA Urban Ag positions:
- Program Manager - one per team
- Program Fellows - six per team
Locations
- SSP's office is located at 1516 Del Paso Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95815. Most days will start and end here, although the cohort will be out in the community during the day.
Summary
- Paid workforce development for ages 16-30
- Transform food deserts into food hubs
- Lunch and transportation provided
Schedule
- Cohorts will last 12 weeks
- The Program Manager will be hired one month earlier to be involved with hiring Program Fellows, and ideally work through the summer to also lead the fall cohort.
- The weekly schedule is consistent Tuesday through Friday from 8 AM to 2:30 PM
- Mondays will be a prep day for the Program Manager
- Occasional weekend hours are required for special events

Pay
- Program Manager: $26.76/hour, 40 hours/week
- Program Fellows: $20/hour, 24 hours/week
Qualifications
- Ages 16-30
- Able to work with no or limited interruption for the duration of your employment. Please identify any schedule limitations within the application.
- Employees who work with youth are required by California law to complete Live Scan fingerprinting (paid for by SSP); any convictions may lead to a job offer being revoked.
All program participants must:
1) Reside within Sacramento city limits
- Verify your address is within city boundaries before applying
- Applicants residing outside of the City of Sacramento’s limits will not be considered
- Reside within a Qualified Census Tract (a low-income area as designated by the Department of Housing and Urban Development);
- Reside in a low- or moderate-income household;
- Reside in a household that experienced unemployment;
- Reside in a household that experienced increased food or housing insecurity;
- Reside in a household that is receiving services from Tribal governments; or
- Reside in a household that qualifies for the following federal assistance: Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, Free and Reduced Price School Lunch and Breakfast, Head Start, Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children, Section 8 Vouchers, or Pell Grant.
- Have not participated in an AmeriCorps program;
- May have difficulty finding employment;
- Are low-income;
- Are unemployed and/or out of school;
- Are or were justice-involved;
- Are in or transitioning from foster care; or
- Are engaged with the mental health or substance abuse system.

Application Process

Take the questions seriously, but limit your responses to 150-250 words. If you prefer, you may answer any question via a 1 to 3 minute audio / video response. List n/a in the essay response field.
